Liverpool spent a fortune to lure Alisson away from Roma in the summer and the players at the club feel they made the right decision over the shot stopper. He was signed for a goalkeeper transfer record fee of $65 million.
A team that boasts a plethora of attacking playerslike Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, it says a lot when Milner picks Alisson as the best player of this team.
The goalkeeper spot had become something of an issue for Liverpool following the poor form of Simon Mignolet in recent seasons and the well-documented high profile blunders by Karius, most notably in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final.
Jurgen Klopp picked out former Roma goalkeeper Alisson as the man to bring some assurance to the Liverpool defense and so far so good.
Alisson has been hailed by fans as well as the media for his performances since arriving at Anfield, as the Brazilian has kept the highest shutouts and conceded the least number of goals in the Premier League this season.
Speaking in an interview with official Liverpool FC magazine, he spoke of his most outstanding player this season, “It’s a difficult task to pick anybody in particular because everyone has done so well. We have put in a good shift for the manager, doing everything he asks of us. If I had to choose someone, it has got to be Alisson. He has made the switch to a new league and has adapted very quickly. He has been unbelievable,” he said.
Liverpool are well on course for their first Premier League title since their triumph in 1990. Defending champs Man City are piling up pressure though.
